How to vote

Regent Park, it’s time to vote for a Community Benefits package! Cast your vote by Friday, August 1, 2025 to help decide how $26.8 million will be invested in Regent Park.

On this page

In this vote, you’ll get to rank three Community Benefits Packages in the order you prefer. This way, even if your top choice doesn’t get selected, your other rankings will help determine the outcome.

Regent Park residents who are ages 14 and older can vote. Votes are anonymous and confidential. You can only vote once.

    Voting process

    Review the packages

Before you vote, take some time to review the three Community Benefits Packages. Each of the packages invest in the same areas, but the amount they invest in each area is different.

Visit an in-person vote event or voting location.

All voters must register and residents age 18 and over must show proof of address before you vote. Full eligibility requirements are listed below. Market residents can pre-register to help the voting process go faster.

TCHC staff will be on-site at all voting locations to explain the packages, answer questions, and support any accessibility needs.

    Rank your choices.

On your ballot, you will get to rank the three packages from one (your first choice) to three (your third choice).

The package that receives the highest overall ranking across the ballots and more than 50 per cent of the votes will be the community’s preferred package.

This type of ranked voting means that every vote counts. Even if your top choice doesn’t get selected, your votes for second and third choice still make a difference.

    Eligibility: who can vote?

Regent Park residents ages 14 and older can vote. This includes TCHC tenants and market residents living within the boundaries of the Regent Park Revitalization: Parliament Street (west), River Street (east), Gerrard Street (north) and Shuter Street (south), as well as 220 Oak Street.

    Residents age 18+

    Residents age 18+ must provide:

    • ID (i.e., student card, driver’s license, passport, credit card, library card, etc.)
    • proof of address (bill, driver’s license, (official/formal) letter, etc.)

Residency can also be confirmed through a Community Agency.

TCHC tenants who don’t have physical proof of address can provide their full name and address and TCHC staff will verify this information through our internal database. Some form ID (see above) is still required to verify identity.

    Residents ages 14–17

Youth ages 14–17 (both TCHC tenants and market residents) are required to provide their full name, address and age, but are not required to show proof.

TCHC staff will verify residency for TCHC youth ages 14–17 through our internal database.

    What happens after the vote?

Once the voting period closes, TCHC, Tridel and the Community Benefits Oversight Working Group (CBOWG) will review the final number of first, second, and third choice votes for each package. We will then confirm the community’s preferred package based on the package that has the highest overall ranking and more than 50 per cent of the votes.

After the community’s preferred package is chosen, Regent Park residents will have many opportunities to continue to shape what happens next. For example, you can help determine how community space will be used, help establish priorities for community initiatives, and help inform how other investments can be tailored to our community’s specific needs.
