    TCHC is calling on tenants to run for a position on their local Tenant Council. The Tenant Council is a space where tenants are encouraged to raise issues, share their ideas, and play a key role in improving their communities. Join the Tenant Council to advocate and represent your community! 

    Responsibilities of Community Representatives

    • Encourage the participation of tenants in the community.
    • Engage with TCHC Staff, other community representatives, key stakeholders and partners.
    • Actively participate in the Tenant Community Action Table.
    • Keep tenants informed.

    Who can be nominated? 

    To be eligible, nominees must: 

    • Be registered on a TCHC lease 
    • Be 16 years of age or older 
    • Be in good standing (no arrears, disruptive conduct, or eviction proceedings) 
    • Be a tenant of the community they want to represent 
    • Not be a full-time employee of TCHC, resident key persons, rooming house representatives, or a family member of any of these individuals

    Key dates 

    • Nominations open: Tuesday, August 5
    • Nominations close: Thursday, September 4

    How to nominate

    You can nominate yourself or another eligible tenant. Please get permission from the candidate if you are nominating someone else.

    1. Complete the Tenant Election nomination form using the link below.
    2. Get two supporting signatures: two other tenants from your community must sign the form to support your nomination.
    3. Submit by email, in-person at your local TCHC office, or to your Community Services Coordinator (CSC).

    The nominations for the 2025 Tenant Council Elections opens Tuesday, August 5. You can nominate yourself or another tenant who you believe will be a strong voice for your community.

    Candidate orientation

    All nominees will be invited to attend a virtual or in-person Tenant Leader Orientation session in mid-September. The session will help you prepare for the campaign and responsibilities of the role.
