Thirty-six youth leaders receive Investing in Our Diversity Scholarships
Since 2006, more than $1.7 million dollars have been awarded to 770 outstanding youth through this scholarship program.
In late June, Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) hosted its annual Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship (IIODS) Celebration Gala in Regent Park. The event celebrated this year’s IIODS award winners—students living in TCHC communities or the Scadding Court Community catchment area who have made a positive impact on their community.
Together with their IIODS partners and donors, TCHC awarded a total of $144,000 in scholarships. Thirty-six youth leaders each received $4,000 to pursue full-time, post-secondary studies or professional training across Ontario. Their studies range from artificial intelligence, accounting and finance to life sciences, social work, and law.
During the event, attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, live saxophone music, and an art exhibit featuring works by TCHC tenants. The reception also featured networking and photo opportunities, guest speakers, and IIODS certificate presentations.
The IIODS program offers youth financial support to access education and reach their full potential. To be selected, individuals must show clear goals for their future and demonstrate how they have made a significant contribution towards building a more inclusive and equitable society.
