Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) awarded scholarships to 26 Regent Park tenants today as part of its Regent Park Scholarship program. In year two of the program, funding grew to $91,000 – up from $50,000 in 2024.

The scholarship program supports youth and adult learners who are pursuing post-secondary education or skills training. Funded through TCHC’s partnership with Tridel, it offers up to $3,000 towards tuition, and a $500 bursary for books and other school costs.

The 2025 scholarship recipients were celebrated at a breakfast event at Café ZUZU on Thursday, August 7. The event brought together residents, community leaders, and partners.

“This is more than financial aid – it’s an investment in our local leaders,” said Yves Cheung, TCHC’s Chief Development Officer. “We’re proud to support our latest scholarship recipients who are shaping their communities and building and growing their futures.”

"The Regent Park Scholarship is greater than financial support. It is a reminder that the work we're doing matters and that someone sees our potential, believes in our journey, and is investing in our future. And for that, I want to thank you on behalf of all the winners here today."

Regent Park Scholarships recognize tenant leaders making a difference in their community. They show their efforts through volunteering, youth mentoring, grassroots work, and community leadership. Priority is given to applicants who self-identify as Black, aligning with TCHC’s Confronting Anti-Black Racism Strategy (CABR).

The scholarship is open to Regent Park TCHC tenants pursuing college, university, or certified training programs. It’s funded entirely by Tridel, TCHC’s development partner for Phases 4-5 of the ongoing Regent Park revitalization.

While the final Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) in Regent Park will be announced later this year, each proposed package includes at least $1.8 million for scholarship funding.

Since its launch in 2024, the Regent Park Scholarship Program has awarded $141,000 to 41 TCHC tenants, fueling educational and leadership opportunities for those making a difference in the community.

Congratulations to all 2025-26 Regent Park Scholarship recipients:
