Introducing the Regent Park Scholarship 2024-25

TCHC and Tridel are excited to announce the launch of the Regent Park Scholarship Program—where dreams take flight!

Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) and Tridel are excited to announce the launch of the Regent Park Scholarship Program 2024-25. This new scholarship opportunity for the upcoming academic year is now open to eligible TCHC Regent Park tenants ages 17 and older.

In its inaugural year, the scholarship (valued at $50,000) recognizes the commitment of Regent Park tenants who have made meaningful contributions to their community and is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of leaders by paving a pathway for their academic and career success. Successful recipients could receive up to $3,000 for tuition, and $500 for books and other fees (e.g., transportation), towards a part- or full-time post-secondary program at an accredited university, college, career academy, or trade school program happening in the upcoming school year.

While the program is launching as a pilot for the 2024-25 academic year, its roots run deep into the heart of Regent Park’s vibrant spirit. We heard you loud and clear from your feedback on our Community Benefits Engagement Process that launched with a “listening” phase last year; undeniably, scholarships emerged as an investment the community values and wants, and although it is a pilot program this year its impact is no less profound. The success and impact of this pilot program for 2024-25 will play a crucial role in developing the scholarship program further following the community’s vote on the Community Benefits Agreement packages to be released in 2024.

We invite aspiring scholars from Regent Park to seize this opportunity, knowing that their success today lays the foundation for the robust scholarship program that awaits, fueled by community unity and commitment. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this transformative journey together.

TCHC recognizes that the impacts of anti-Black racism have created negative outcomes for Black communities in Toronto, including underrepresentation in decision-making and access to social and economic opportunities. Through our Confronting Anti-Black Racism Strategy (PDF), we are committed to providing meaningful economic opportunities, such as creating and prioritizing access to scholarship opportunities that Black-identifying tenants can participate in and attain.
