Initial Development Proposal for Swansea Mews approved by City Council

The IDP outlines the redevelopment plans for Swansea Mews, including how it will work to achieve Toronto’s city-building goals of creating new affordable housing units.

On April 23, 2025 Toronto City Council approved TCHC’s Initial Development Proposal (IDP) for Swansea Mews. The IDP was brought to the City of Toronto after it was approved by TCHC’s Board of Directors in October 2024.

The IDP outlines the redevelopment plans for Swansea Mews, including how it will work to achieve Toronto’s city-building goals of creating new affordable housing units. The IDP includes next steps for community engagement, planning approvals, and funding needs.

With Council’s approval, TCHC will begin working on the Zoning Bylaw and Official Plan amendments. This process will take several months, and features consultation with a wide range of stakeholders (including former Swansea Mews tenants, area neighbours, City staff and the local City Councillor).

Next steps in the revitalization of Swansea Mews will focus on community engagement. Former Swansea Mews tenants, area neighbours, City staff and the local City Councillor will play a vital role in helping to shape the comprehensive revitalization plan.
