The Canada Post strike and how it may affect you
Workers at Canada Post are currently on strike. This is expected to create delays and other disruptions to mail and parcel delivery.
What it means for you
Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered during the strike. Some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees will be affected for items already in the postal network. No new items will be accepted.
Canada Post has agreed to continue delivering cheques for programs that include the CPP, the CPP disability benefit, OAS, the Canada Child Benefit and the Canadian Benefit for Parents of Young Victims of Crime. If you receive these payments, we recommend you set up direct deposit if possible.
If you pay rent by mail, we encourage you to switch to direct deposit to avoid delayed payments. There is more information on setting up direct deposit in your Tenant Guide. If you cannot set up direct deposit, please speak to your Tenant Services Coordinator or call the Client Care Centre.
We recommend that you drop off important documents in-person at your nearest service location. These documents can include your Annual Rent Review, transfer applications, unit modification requests, and more.
