Update on Swansea Mews: Initial Development Proposal process

Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) is actively collaborating with the City of Toronto to start the Initial Development Proposal (IDP) process for Swansea Mews. This process is required for all new TCHC redevelopment projects and represents the first formal step in creating a comprehensive revitalization plan for the community.

The IDP outlines how the project will meet city building goals, including an overview of the redevelopment potential and preliminary guiding principles. It will also highlight future community engagement initiatives, next steps, and funding requirements. We anticipate the IDP report will go to City Council in Q4 2024.

Following Council approval, TCHC will launch a detailed community engagement process. This is essential to shaping a redevelopment plan for Swansea Mews that reflects the community’s needs and to support an Official Plan Amendment and rezoning application. We expect these processes will start in 2025.

Progress is ongoing, and we remain committed to keeping residents informed and involved throughout the process. More updates and opportunities to participate will be shared soon.
