Tenant leaders trained to take actions on conservation
Early in spring, Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) held special training sessions for tenant leaders from various communities. The goal of these sessions was to help tenants learn how to save energy, reduce water use, and manage waste better in their communities.
TCHC’s Conservation team led the training with lively discussions, fun activities, and helpful presentations. Tenants learned simple ways they can make a difference. This includes turning off lights when not in use, fixing leaks, and recycling properly. The team also shared examples of TCHC’s conservation programs and how these efforts help protect the environment and make our communities better places to live.

Conservation-themed giveaways (like LED bulbs and power strips) to promote environmental awareness and support conservation efforts.
One important goal for TCHC is to reduce energy use by 25 per cent by 2028. Tenant leaders are key to helping us reach this goal by sharing what they’ve learned with their neighbours and encouraging good conservation habits in their buildings.
Twenty-four tenant leaders across TCHC communities completed the training and received certificates. These leaders are now ready to promote energy, water, and waste conservation in their communities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and showed their commitment to building a greener future!
