Take part in the Black Thriving Framework Survey for a chance to win a $100 gift card

Have your say on the creation of TCHC’s Black Thriving Framework.

The Centre for Advancing the Interests of Black People (the Centre) is developing the Black Thriving Framework. To help shape the framework, the Centre invites tenants to share their experiences and feedback.

About the Black Thriving Framework

Within Toronto Community Housing (TCHC), over 40 per cent of tenants identify as Black, representing the largest population of TCHC tenants. TCHC is committed to better understanding tenants’ needs and to tailoring its services and programs, including applying an anti-Black racism lens.

Your input will help shape the framework, how we address anti-Black racism, and supports for Black tenants.

The Centre is partnering with experts in health equity and community development: TAIBU Community Health Centre and Monumental to develop the Black Thriving Framework. Additional research support is provided by NORC at the University of Chicago.

To create the Black Thriving Framework, we want to understand what thriving really looks and feels like for Black tenants in TCHC communities. The first phase of data collection will also focus on understanding the unique experiences of Black seniors and Black boys.

The framework will be used to develop a new 18-month Black Thriving Action Plan for TCHC. The action plan will continue progress we have made through our Confronting Anti-Black Racism Strategy.

Ways to participate in the Black Thriving Framework

There are several ways you can help us understand what thriving means for Black tenants – in your own words, on your own terms.

Online survey

Visit https://tchc.qrd.by/6irwp3 and complete the survey by Friday, July 3, 2026. The survey will take about 8 to 10 minutes to complete. Your answers are anonymous.

As a thank you, tenants who complete the survey online can enter a draw to win one of three $100 gift cards (one winner from each region). You will be able to access a separate contest entry form once you submit your survey.

Focus group or one-on-one interviews

Tenants who wish to participate in a focus group or a one-on-one interview should complete the Centre’s expression of interest form. A member of the Centre team will follow up with you with more information. Focus groups and interviews will take place during May and June 2026.

Tenants who take part in a focus group or one-on-one interview will receive a $50 gift card and TTC reimbursement.

Completing this survey or participating in a focus group or one-on-one interview will not affect your housing or access to any TCHC services — in any way.

Translations and alternate formats are available by request.
