Regent Park Wins Award for Excellence in Urban Planning

Ontario Professional Planners Institute recognizes master plan for Regent Park Phases 4-5. The recognition underscores outstanding city-building achievement.

Regent Park Phases 4-5 has been awarded a 2025 PlanON Award of Excellence by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI). The honour recognizes the exceptional master plan vision for the final stages of one of Canada’s largest urban revitalizations.

Toronto Community Housing (TCHC), in partnership with Tridel, worked with a master planning consultant team – Bousfields Inc., Karakusevic Carson Architects, ERA Architects, Monumental, Trans Solar Klima Engineering & JMV Consulting, RWDI, PFS Studio, BA Group, and Counterpoint – to deliver the comprehensive vision for Phases 4-5 of the ongoing revitalization in Regent Park.

“This award highlights the collaborative effort of the entire master plan team and the importance of thoughtful urban planning, community engagement, and design excellence,” said Yves Cheung, TCHC’s Chief Development Officer. “Most importantly, TCHC tenants are at the centre of this vision, and we look forward to bringing Phase 4 to life beginning this fall and continuing the ongoing transformation of Regent Park into an inclusive, sustainable community.”

The award celebrates years of planning and coordination, leading to the pivotal 2023 rezoning that enabled the master plan vision to move forward.
