A community garden is an example of an initiative that aligns with the Don Summerville Community Action Plan

The Don Summerville Community Initiatives Grant Program provides financial and/or in-kind resources to resident groups who want to lead community initiatives. These programs should align with the Don Summerville Community Action Plan.

The Community Initiatives Grant is part of the TCHC Revitalization program’s suite of programming and funding support for Don Summerville residents.

  • Up to $3,000 to support resident projects
  • Open to Don Summerville TCHC residents aged 17 years and older
  • Two submission periods in 2025 to fund projects in the fall/winter and spring

This is a pilot program but examples from other TCHC community grant programs include skill and community building activities such as gardening activities, community markets, wellness classes, bus trips, and workshops. The first round of 2025 grant applications closes Saturday, August 30. The second round deadline will be in January, 2026.
