Celebrating the contributions of Councillor Paula Fletcher
Councillor Fletcher's term on TCHC's Board of Directors concludes at the end of 2024, leaving behind a legacy of transformational leadership and unwavering commitment to affordable housing in Toronto.
Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) extends its deepest gratitude to Councillor Paula Fletcher for her remarkable contributions as a longstanding member of our Board of Directors. After serving for many years, Councillor Fletcher's term concludes at the end of 2024, leaving behind a legacy of transformational leadership and unwavering commitment to affordable housing in Toronto.
Throughout her tenure, Councillor Fletcher has been instrumental in driving key initiatives and supporting our mission. She committed herself fully to the work of revitalization, one of TCHC's greatest undertakings. In the Don Summerville community, she helped to elevate the voices of residents and push for a design that will help to reimagine the entire neighbourhood of Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue. Her passion for revitalization shone brightly during the Don Mount Court (now Rivertowne) transformation, as well. From the beginning of redevelopment to the final unveiling of the restored basketball court in 2023, she supported those residents and guided the project to completion.
Her leadership was pivotal in the successful transfer of 760 TCHC homes to affordable housing non-profits, enhancing access to quality housing. She championed environmental stewardship by increasing tree coverage on TCHC properties, achieving a 40 per cent canopy goal and creating greener, more livable communities. Beyond these tangible achievements, Councillor Fletcher consistently amplified the voices of TCHC tenants, helped to steer TCHC through challenges, and championed the recruitment of strong leadership. Her trusted voice at the Board table will be profoundly missed.
The staff of TCHC offer our deepest gratitude to Councillor Fletcher for her years of steadfast service to the public good, and for leaving an enduring mark on the communities we serve.
