Meet Kirryn
Kirryn Hashmi joined Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) as General Counsel on March 16, 2026.
Kirryn brings more than 15 years of legal and leadership experience, including at First Capital Real Estate Investment Trust, a real estate owner, operator and developer. There she served as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership and Board of Trustees of a publicly traded organization with $9.3 billion in assets across Canada.
In addition to her extensive experience in litigation, construction, real estate, corporate governance and risk management, Kirryn is known for her collaborative leadership style, sound judgement and commitment to mentoring and developing strong teams. She fosters cross-functional partnerships and helps embed practical, business-focused legal strategy into organizational decision making.
Kirryn is passionate about advancing social justice. While at law school she volunteered and worked as a student litigator with Community Legal Aid, Faculty of Law, University of Windsor providing legal services to vulnerable populations. Kirryn has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the registered charity, FCR Thriving Neighbourhoods Foundation, holding several fundraising events and charitable initiatives to better serve our communities.
Kirryn holds an Honours BA, in Sociology and Political Science (graduated Summa Cum Laude) from York University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor Law School.
